It’s that time of the year again!  Dry pale skin, chapped lips, brittle hair, oh my. Here are my top 10 ways to combat the winter uglies:

1. Hydrate Your Skin

  • Slugging at night: Use a thicker cream or balm instead of lightweight lotions to lock in moisture. My goal is to look like a glazed donut for bed.
  • Add a Hydrating Serum: I always grab products with hyaluronic acid to boost hydration.
  • Don’t Skip Sunscreen: Even in winter, UV rays can cause damage. I love this one (bonus it’s tinted to give me some MUCH-needed color)

2. Get moving!

  • Pick a workout you enjoy so it doesn’t feel like a chore. I love weight training and kickboxing for cardio.
  • Hot girl walk: easier said than done in the colder months, but I make a realistic goal (I’m doing 7,000 steps right now) and stick to it- I like to break it up throughout the day so it doesn’t seem too much.
  • Sauna: Not only does the heat feel AMAZING in the cold but it gets that extra sweat and helps fight off infections during the winter cold and flu season.

3. Facial Massage

  • You can use a tool like a roller or a gua sha: or you can just use your hands( there are so many tutorials on YouTube to try out this WILL change your face and help get rid of lines.
  • Whether you’re using a tool or just your hands find an oil that works for you to make it easier to glide and help moisturize your skin at the same time.

4. Protect Your Hair

  • Deep Conditioners and hair mask: Weekly treatments help keep your hair hydrated and smooth.
  • Limit Heat Styling: Reduce blow-drying and flat ironing to prevent breakage or use a heat protectant. I use protective hairstyles like braids or heatless curls.
  • Hair serums/oils

5. Nourish your body and Stay Hydrated

  • Drink Water: Hydration starts from within. Aim for 8–10 glasses of water daily.
  • Add Healthy Fats: Incorporate omega-3-rich foods like salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds for skin and hair health that take a beating during these cold months. After all summer bodies are made in the winter!
  • Boost Antioxidants: Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to nourish your skin from the inside out.

7. Mental health

  • This is probably the most important on the list you can’t look good if you don’t feel good. It sounds cliché but it does show when you are feeling happier.
  • Ground yourself, get morning sunlight, daily affirmations will change your mindset

8. Dress up

  • Look good feel good: you will feel so much more confident when you take a couple more minutes in the morning to put on a cute outfit and a little makeup- this doesn’t need to be anything crazy on a day-to-day I’ll throw on a tinted moisturizer (SPF ofc) and throw on some mascara, curling your lashes also makes a huge difference
  • Other winter beauty: These are all optional, but some things I do to stay hot in the winter are incorporate a daily Eyelash serum, self-tanner, and whitening strips

9. Sunlight

  • Natural sunlight
  • Red light therapy/ happy light:  the happy light does what the sun does indoors, it can boost your mood, help combat seasonal depression, and create serotonin.

10. Eliminate negativity

Energy vampires: an ex you still talk to, the friend who drains you, or the toxic relationship you’re stuck in- it’s time to cut it off. Don’t waste energy on things that are no longer serving you and watch yourself start to glow.

Negative self-talk: Stop being mean to yourself- whatever you say your mind will believe so start talking to yourself as the beautiful woman you are <3
