Your nighttime routine is more than just a way to unwind—it’s a powerful ritual that sets the tone for a good night sleep. Creating a healthy evening routine can help you wake up feeling refreshed, glowing, and ready to take on the day.

If you’re looking to elevate your self-care routine, here’s a step-by-step guide to the perfect nighttime ritual for beauty and wellness.

Step 1: Set the Mood for Relaxation

Transform your space into a calming sanctuary to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down.

How to do it:
✔ Lighting can do wonders I use plug in light dimmers and a led strip I attached to under my bed to set the ambiance in my space.
Put your phone on “Do Not Disturb” to reduce screen time before bed. I also like to switch my phone to red light mode (via accessibility settings) or use “Night Shift” mode with warmer tones to minimize blue light exposure before bed.

📱 How to activate red light mode:
On iPhone: Go to Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Color Filters → Turn on Color Filters → Select Red Tint and adjust the intensity.
On Android: Use Night Light mode or install a red light filter app for similar effects

✔I also like to tidy up and put my dishes in the dishwasher before bed so I wake up to a clean kitchen in the morning.

Step 2: Remove Makeup & Cleanse Your Skin

Cleansing your face before bed is essential for a glowing complexion. It removes dirt, oil, and makeup that can clog pores and cause breakouts overnight.

How to do it:
✔ Find a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type.
✔ Double cleanse if you wear makeup or SPF to ensure a deep clean. I use an oil based cleanser first followed by a gel cleanser.
✔ Follow up with a hydrating toner to balance your skin.

Step 3: Hydrate & Nourish

Nighttime is the time your skin repairs itself, so using the right products can enhance this process.

How to do it:
✔ Start applying lash and eyebrow serums at night for fuller lashes and brows.
✔ Lock in moisture with a night cream or overnight face mask.
✔ In addition to a magnesium supplement I also use a magnesium spray on the soles of my feet which promotes deeper sleep.

✔Navel pulling with castor oil may sound like an odd trend but I have been doing it for a few months and it really helps my sleep and supports natural detoxification processes to get rid of bloat and wake up with a flatter stomach.

Step 4: Practice a Little Self-Care

Incorporating a self-care into your nighttime ritual can help you feel more relaxed and grounded before bed.

How to do it:
✔ Lay on an acupressure mat to stimulate pressure points across the body, aiding circulation, and promoting deep relaxation.
✔ Do a quick facial massage or gua sha to relieve tension and boost circulation.
Journal, meditate, or read a book to quiet your mind.

Step 5: Sip on a Sleep-Friendly Drink

What you drink before bed can impact your sleep quality. Avoid caffeine and opt for calming beverages instead.

Best nighttime drinks:
✔ Chamomile, ginger, or peppermint tea for relaxation and detoxing.
✔ Magnesium-rich drinks to support deep sleep and muscle relaxation.

Step 6: Create a Sleep-Optimized Environment

Your sleep environment plays a crucial role in how well you rest. A cozy, clutter-free space promotes deep, uninterrupted sleep.

How to do it:
✔ Keep your room cool and dark.
✔ Invest in a silk pillowcase to reduce friction on your skin and hair.
✔ Use a weighted blanket or cozy bedding for extra comfort.

Step 7: Set a Consistent Bedtime

Sticking to a regular sleep schedule helps regulate your circadian rhythm and improves sleep quality.

How to do it:
✔ Create a schedule to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.
✔ Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep.
✔ Try an alarm like the hatch alarm clock with soothing wake-up sounds for a gentle wake up call.

Final Thoughts

A healthy nighttime routine is a full-body ritual that promotes relaxation, self-care, and restful sleep. By incorporating these steps into your evening routine, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, glowing, and ready to take on the day.
